Let Go and Love!

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it.”  
Luke 17:33 

This verse has just taken on new meaning to me after reading a devotional this morning written by Rick Warren. If you cling or hold fast to your life and not share with anyone else, then you will lose your life; but if you ease up on the reins and share your life you will save it. Consider the thought of love. Haven’t you noticed the more you love the more love you have? Think about the more you give in tithes and offerings, the more money you seem to have. The more time you give to God the more time you seem to have. The more talents you use for God the more your talent grows. This is exactly right. The more you give the more you get back in return. You cannot “out-give” God in anything. He is going to bless you abundantly if you are giving and doing with the right heart, a heart of faith and love.

Have you been hurt because you loved someone or hurt from some other risk that you have taken in your life by stepping out of your comfort zone? Well life is full of risks. God tells us in Ecclesiastes 10:8 that “When you work in a quarry, stones might fall and crush you! When you chop wood, there is danger with each stroke of your ax! Such are the risks of life.”It doesn’t matter what you do in life, if you are doing it for God there is risks. Faith in itself is taking risks. Right? You have to step out on faith even though you cannot see what is ahead of you but you have to step out because God has told you to. It is so hard to step out on faith. The not knowing what is ahead is scary and that is where faith comes into play.

“Have Faith in GOD!”  Mark 11:22. 

This verse says it all along with this to follow it up answering what faith really is. Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1.

This goes back to being connected to how we think. If we think positive by having the faith and asking for things in God’s will. Remember Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” Also, Psalm 37:4 states, “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires.” Delight means a feeling of extreme satisfaction.

If you are seeking first God’s righteousness (that which is correct, straight, or in the direct line of truth and goodness) then you are definitely taking delight (extreme satisfaction) in the Lord! Do you see the connection? Once again it goes back to, Philippians 4:8 which says,Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” What are all these things that are “true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent praiseworthy”? Positive things! Are you getting the point? Think on the positive which is what God is teaching us to do in all these So think on these positive things, keep the positive thoughts going, and God will give you the desires of your heart. No, He won’t give us everything we want as some people are thinking right now but the desires of our heart will be God’s desires because we are “seeking His righteousness.”!

So how is faith, love, delight, and seeking righteousness connected? You have to love and delight in the Lord by seeking His righteousness and through the seeking and love for God our faith will grow stronger every single day!
